“Everything depends on what, if anything, we find interesting: on what we are encouraged and educated to find interesting, and what we find ourselves being interested in despite ourselves. There is our official curiosity and our unofficial curiosity (and psychoanalysis is a story about the relationship between the two)…”
— Adam Phillips

Adam Phillips, who the New Yorker called “Britain”s foremost psychoanalytic writer”, will be visiting the SFCP for a very special Scientific Meeting on Monday, March 30, 7:30–9:30PM. Please join us for an evening with an exceptionally creative analyst whose work provides a lived experience of the very kinds of playful, provocative and reorienting experiences it often describes. Adam Phillips will read a paper titled: “The Truth of Psychoanalysis”, addressing the uses and the function of the idea of truth in psychoanalytic theory and practice. Following his paper, he will be interviewed on stage by Adam Blum and then we will open up discussion with the audience.
