Mentoring Program

We are pleased to again offer a mentoring program for early career social workers interested in advancing their clinical practice and professional development in the context of psychodynamic and social justice lenses.  Mentees are paired with individual mentors to meet at least once a month in person or remotely during the academic year (September 2024 – June 2025).

The focus of mentoring varies and can include case discussion, theoretical and contextual formulations, agency practice (individual work and organizational dynamics), and career development (e.g., starting a private practice).  All participants are social workers who share a commitment to integrating psychodynamic thinking and social justice into their practice.

Mentees are carefully matched with mentors whose experience, interests, and availability align.  The commitment is taken seriously – mentees must attend all monthly meetings with their mentors and plan to come together as a larger group for the Fall and Spring gatherings. Additionally, CCSW hosts four clinical evenings a year that participants are highly encouraged to attend.   As well as being informative, these evenings offer valuable opportunities for networking and connection.

Requirements

We encourage you to apply to the CCSW Mentoring Program if you:

  • Graduated from an MSW program within the past five years
  • Are interested in becoming part of the CCSW community
  • Would benefit from mentoring by a more experienced clinical social worker
  • Are interested in thinking psychodynamically about your practice
  • Can commit to monthly meetings with a mentor
  • Are able to attend two program-wide gatherings Fall 2024 and Spring 2025

Application Process

The application must be submitted by July 31, 2024.  Applicants will be notified as to whether they are accepted into the program by mid-August. Please return your completed application to ccswmentoring@gmail.com — and contact us with any questions.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to reviewing your applications.

CCSW is pleased to offer a mentoring program that matches experienced practitioners with early-career social workers seeking guidance and support for their professional development.

Mentoring can focus on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to): case discussion, theoretical and contextual formulations, starting a private practice, agency practice (individual work and organizational dynamics), career development, psychoanalytic thinking, etc.

We will do our best to match mentors and mentees who we think will be a good “fit” for one another, but the relationship itself will be defined by each dyad.  We ask that mentors initiate contact with mentees and that you meet at least once a month from September 2024 through June 2025.

We invite you to attend the 2024/25 Clinical Evening Series which will take place on the following Wednesdays: Sept. 25, Dec. 4, Feb. 12, and  May 7. We also sponsor two gatherings, in the fall and spring that mentor program participants are encouraged to attend.

Please download and complete the Mentor Questionnaire linked below to help us match you with a mentee. The information you provide on this form will be shared with your mentee and the CCSW mentoring committee.
